The Issue

Currently, Canadian patients lack access to competent diagnosis and care for Tethered Spinal Cord Syndrome (TCS).

.

Many of us, children and adults alike, have to travel outside Canada, often to the US, where we pay out of pocket for expensive --but medically necessary-- surgery.

.

TCS can result in paralysis and permanent nerve damage if not surgically treated.

.

Provincial health coverage rarely, if ever, funds out-of-country surgeries not available in Canada.

.

We need to push provincial governments to either fund out of country care, or hire neurosurgeons here in Canada who have training and expertise in Tethered Cord Syndrome, and co-morbid conditions like connective tissue disorders (e.g. Ehlers Danlos Syndrome), POTS, MCAS and more.
