Every year in the UK, millions of animals — including mice, rats, dogs, cats, rabbits, and monkeys — are subjected to painful and terrifying experiments in laboratories. They are poisoned, restrained, and killed for research that is often outdated and unnecessary.
In 2019 alone, over 3.4 million animal experiments were carried out. These animals feel fear and pain, yet are treated as disposable.
This petition calls on the UK Government to scrap plans protecting animal testing laboratories and commit to a clear, time-bound phase-out of animal testing. Humane, modern alternatives already exist and deliver results without cruelty.
The UK claims to value animal welfare. Continuing to protect these labs is a moral failure.
