Neighbors Opposing Noise
Apr 30, 2023

HEALTH DEPARTMENT OUTREACH:

Ossining and Cortland's supervisor's, Liz Feldman and Dr. Richard Becker penned a joint letter to the Westchester County Health Department requesting their help to make Metro North stop the noise and air pollution emanating from the area in and around the Replacement Harmon Train Yard. It is a powerful letter and a strong, plea for help.

As shared by supervisor Feldman, they said " we don't deal with noise" to which supervisor Feldman alerted them to the fact that we are also exposed to air pollution from micro particles from combusted diesel fuel which are the number 1 cause of small cell lung cancer.

They told her that they would elevate it to the EPA and to County Executive  Latimer and get back to her.

This was over a month ago.  Requests for an update from Supervisor Feldman have been met with silence.

ACTION:  Please Email County Executive Latimer: ce@westchestergov.com

REQUEST: Latimer contact the President of Metro North Railroad and ask them to do what ever is necessary to stop noise and air pollution they are exposing the residents of Croton-on-Hudson, Crotonville, Teatown, Cortlandt and Briarcliff manor.  That they contact supervisor Feldman and supervisor Becker with an timeline and action plan to resolve these serious pollution problems.

LETS WORK TOGETHER TO GET THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM SOLVED NOW!
