Sign Now to Help Expand Montessori Children’s House
The Issue
I am a parent and community supporter gathering signatures in support of the purchase and renovation of the Humboldt Fire Station to expand Montessori Children’s House, a Providence-based school that has served families in early childhood education for nearly 50 years. Please take action and sign now to support this cause.
Providence families need access to high-quality early education. We, the undersigned parents, alumni, educators, and community members, support the purchase and renovation of the Humboldt Fire Station to expand early childhood and elementary programming at Montessori Children’s House, directly benefiting local families.
This project represents a long-term investment in children, families, and the Providence community. By approving this proposal, the City can help keep families local, support stable employment, and advance its goals for expanded childcare and early education access.
Why this matters to Providence:
1. Keeping families and tax dollars local
Expanding early childhood programming, including toddler classrooms, allows families to remain in Providence during critical early years. Families who stay continue to contribute to the local tax base and the community economy.
2. Creating stable, meaningful jobs
The expansion will allow Montessori Children’s House to grow its educational and support staff over time, providing stable employment with opportunities for professional growth and contributing to the local economy.
3. Aligning with City priorities
Providence has identified the need to expand access to high-quality childcare and early education. This proposal directly supports that goal by increasing capacity at a long-standing local school.
4. Supporting long-term educational continuity
The renovated space will allow Montessori Children’s House to expand upper elementary programming, providing continuity for students and long-term educational stability for families.
We respectfully urge the City to support MCH's purchase and renovation of the Humboldt Fire Station and invest in expanded early education opportunities for Providence families.
Signed,
Parents, alumni, educators, and community supporters of Providence
