AGENDA ITEM 3 of the 53rd SESSION OF THE UNHRC
I wrote to you yesterday alerting you to our Complaint about UNSRVAW’s report on parental alienation, to be heard as Agenda item 3 of the forthcoming UNHRC.
We’ve used Change.org to collect further signatories to our Complaint Letter, saying “By signing this petition you'll counter-sign our Complaint Letter”. We’ve already received 1,000 further signatory stakeholders from all over the world, significant considering the niche nature of the issue.
There are now more signatures to the letter complaining about UNSRVAW’s Report than the number of submissions she received (and didn’t read) to create it.
In the meantime, UN Secretary General António Guterres announced “Our Common Agenda Policy Brief 8: Information Integrity on Digital Platforms”, which noted that:
“In its resolution 76/227, adopted in 2021, the General Assembly emphasized that all forms of disinformation can negatively impact the enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals. Similarly, in its resolution 49/21, adopted in 2022, the Human Rights Council affirmed that disinformation can negatively affect the enjoyment and realization of all human rights”
It is vitally important, therefore, that UNHRC proactively ensures that it does not act as the puppet of disinformation.
We respectfully reiterate our request to you to defer Agenda Item 3 and commission an independent, public investigation into the UNSRVAW’s report.
I remain at your loyal disposal should you have any queries.
