The Issue

On 22/11/2022 police in Nyeri raided Lady Biker Carol Ian house on suspicion that she was in possession of drugs and contraband without a search warrant. She immediately went live on facebook as a last recourse fearing for her safety to document the terrifying ordeal which has not only left her and her elderly mother traumatised but has tainted her good name in the eyes of the general public.
It is instructive to note that no drugs were found, but she and her mother were arrested and later arraigned court for obstruction and assault.
The facebook live videos are on her wall.
Why should the police be used to settle personal scores? Today it is Carol, tomorrow it will be you and I, if we do not stop police impunity.
Carol Ian and her mother are currently in remand at Kingongo Prison, Nyeri awaiting pre-trial on 7th February 2023.
This petition demands:
1. According to Carol Ian and her mother bond by the Nyeri court under a certificate of urgency.
2. Immediate investigation and interdiction of the officer in charge OCS Riungu Ward of the raid by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority, The (Ipoa).
Intervention by the Office of the governor Nyeri in ensuring that justice prevails in this matter.
3. Motion to be moved by an MCA Nyeri in the Nyeri County Assembly on the Officer from Riungu Ward overstepping their mandate and conducting duties within the confines of the law.
