The Issue

Why is Plan C, adding one Sunday and an additional Saturday to the State mandated Early Voting calendar, so important? Because working people, the elderly, people who work two jobs, folks busy getting their kids to school, fed and to after school activities, college students holding down jobs, those who work outside of Rowan County, people who work different shifts, others are full time caretakers, and citizens who just want to use their constitutional right to vote need access beyond what works for those fortunate enough to have flexible schedules.

Advocate for fair voting by delivering Rowan signatures to the NC State Board of Elections who will decide the Rowan County 2025 Early Voting Plan. This should not be a red or blue issue!

Your signature becomes your voice for those in Raleigh making a decision that directly impacts ALL Rowan voters.

After all, is a Sunday and an extra Saturday too much to ask in a county as large as Rowan and with only one Early Voting site in 2025? We think it's a good compromise and a fair one for ALL VOTERS! The Elections Board Director indicated to the Board that Plan C has worked well for Rowan County in the past. It’s time to tell officials in Raleigh!

Now is the time to SHARE, SHARE, SHARE with other Rowan residents and collect signatures ASAP as the meeting is scheduled on 8/27. If you signed the original petition, thank you for your signature and you do not have to sign again. (Note: any contributions you choose to make go directly to change.org to continue their work and are not required to sign this petition.)

Plan C - 15 days Includes (2) Saturdays and (1) Sunday Beginning Thursday, October 16th and ending Saturday, November 1st, Monday through Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18th, and November 1st - 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. -Sunday, October 19th - 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Background to original petition. After the new Rowan Elections Board Chair and the two new members ignored the peoples’ call for Plan C (that added 1 Sunday and an additional Saturday to the required state plan), the Elections Director said had worked well for Rowan County, we started a petition to call an emergency meeting, asking the Board to reconsider their decision.

ORIGINAL PETITION FOLLOWS from 8/17

We still want Plan C - Voter Suppression hits home in Rowan County at the recent Elections Board meeting on 8/6.  Is a Sunday and an extra Saturday too much to ask in a county as large as Rowan and with only one Early Voting site in 2025? We think it's a good compromise! This should not be a red or blue issue.

Please tell Rowan County Election Board Chair Dave Collins and new members, Elaine Hewitt and John Leatherman, that Sunday and Saturdays are good for all voters and ask that Chair Collins call an emergency meeting and change their previous decision to a plan that helps working folks and other voters rather than limiting their hours to vote.

As Elections Board Director Sharon Main indicated at the Board Meeting - Plan C, that adds an additional Saturday and Sunday to the NC State mandated days, has worked well for Rowan County in the past.

So what changed in 2025? A new chair and two new members on the Rowan Board who wish to limit voting  hours for all voters. Over 50 people attended the 12:30 pm meeting on a Wednesday and all present advocated for Plan C.

Plan C - 15 days Includes (2) Saturdays and (1) Sunday Beginning Thursday, October 16th and ending Saturday, November 1st, Monday through Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18th, and November 1st - 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. -Sunday, October 19th - 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Please sign, if a Rowan resident, and request an Emergency Meeting to adopt Plan C for the 2025 municipal elections in Rowan County during Early Voting. Again, is a Sunday and an extra Saturday too much to ask? Stop and sign today and share with friends. Their next meeting is Tuesday, August 19th.

IF NOT YOU,  WHO WILL STAND FOR  "YOUR VOTE, YOUR VOICE?"
