The Issue
Our local public bins are small and not collected often. So, mostly, the rubbish ends up being placed on the top of the bins and on the ground. The bins are too small and not fit for purpose. Many of the bins are old and need replacing. Such as the public bins in Aberford Park, Kipling Way Community Gardens and the bins in the Shakespeare Drive area. They get filled up to the brim and are even falling apart. This wouldnt happen if we had big enough bins for the size and amount of rubbish that ends up in them. It cant carry on this way. People are dumping full rubbish bags right next to the bins. This issue can be resolved. It's just a matter of getting decent sized bins. Its revolting because rubbish keeps covering the ground and leaves an unbearable smell, which is not fair for other people. Therefore, bigger bins are necessary. We also need regular rubbish collections. That should sort out the problem as there wouldn't be any excuses for people leaving their rubbish wherever they want, which is so utterly disrespectful and not fair to others. As Borehamwood is our hometown, people need to take into consideration that it's ours to look after. One of the things that can and should be done is people taking their rubbish home if necessary so that theres no rubbish to be seen anywhere but where it should be. Unfortunately, Borehamwood is not only looking in terrible shape at the moment but also the rubbish is leaving a horrible smell and we are the only ones that can fix it. We need to start now. We NEED bigger bins.
Sign my petition so that the council provides us with bigger bins.
