Dear Prime Minister of Canada, The Honorable Justin Trudeau,

On September 30th 2022, Iranian security forces using unlawful lethal force, killed and wounded several dozen protesters in Zahedan, Balochistan; the most deprived province in Iran.

Human Rights Watch documented the shooting of protesters and bystanders (85 to 97 people, including nine children) who were killed between September 30th & October 5th in Zahedan. One among these; “Khodanur Lojei”, a 27 year old Balochi, whose picture with hands tied to a flagpole and a bottle of water out of reach in front of him, has become an icon of resistance in the ongoing protest in Iran.

Today we celebrate the anniversary of Khodanur’s birth and death and ask the Montreal community to sign this indictment and to request that the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau to take immediate action to put the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Iranian government’s official military on the terrorist list as an act of justice and to keep a vibrant Iranian population and all Canadians safe.

Action committee to free Iranian Political Prisoners in Iran (Montreal, Canada), would like to inform you that everyday a greater number of Canadians are becoming aware of what the Iranian community is shouting all over Canada about the brutality of the despotic regime in Iran who has kidnapped thousands of people’s lives since 1979. 

If Canada and other countries do not act immediately, the Regime in Iran and its official military corps (IRGC) will continue violating international laws and norms, and continue their brutal human rights violations.
