Shut down the Discovery Family Channel

The Issue

The last time I wrote a petition to convince Hasbro to not renew their contract with Warner Bros. Discovery, they literally did the absolute opposite of what I told them to do.

According to last quarter's 10-Q form:

"Hasbro Inc. (“Hasbro”) had the right to put the entirety of its remaining 40% interest in Discovery Family to the Company. Hasbro did not exercise the right by the election period expiration date of March 31, 2025. As of March 31, 2025, Hasbro’s noncontrolling interest was reclassified from redeemable noncontrolling interest to noncontrolling interest outside of stockholders’ equity on the Company’s consolidated balance sheets."

This simplifies to the fact that Hasbro's 40% ownership has now been categorized differently, with Warner Bros. Discovery now seeing Hasbro as a regular part-owner in Discovery Family and not a company that's definitely going to sell their shares, but as more of a permanent shareholder.

Obviously, this means Hasbro's shows are all now doomed to remain on the channel for as long as it lasts, thus potentially resulting in continued licensing issues with most of its shows internationally, and with cable providers gradually and entirely removing the channel from their packages, viewership of the channel will just get worse and worse overtime, resulting in even lower net earnings for both Hasbro and Discovery.

Not only that, the lifespan of Discovery Family combined with its predecessors, Discovery Kids and the Hub Network, is already longer than Nick GAS, The N and TeenNick combined, Noggin and Nick Jr. combined, Toon Disney and Disney XD combined, Boomerang, and especially the now-defunct Universal Kids!

I am getting extremely tired of all this, and I want this to end right now. Which is why I hereby request Hasbro and/or Warner Bros. Discovery to do one big favor: shut down the Discovery Family Channel. Besides, most of Hasbro's shows can now be found on Tubi and/or The Roku Channel, while Discovery's other shows are all on Discovery+.
