Please oppose to plans for the development of 182 units in the form of close care and extra care accomodation with graduated care provision in the form of lodges and 1, 2 or 3 bed apartments; a 75 bed nursing home and dementia unit; amenities building providing supporting care facilities, treatment/therapy rooms, fitness pool, restaurant, small shop and management facilities on the Hencote Estate, Shrewsbury.

The development would destroy Winney Hill, one of the finest landscape features near Shrewsbury, regarded by CPRE as grade 1, with a sensitive and beautiful ecosystem including hares, owls and at least two species of protected bats.

The site is above a local wildlife area and right next to the Old River Bed SSSI east of Ellesmere Road.

It would put a massive amount of extra traffic onto Ellesmere Road. The applicant claims that because old people do not commute at peak hours, the traffic impact can be discounted. It completely ignores the impact of the hundred plus staff and numerous visitors entering and leaving the site.

It would seriously impact the 'green wedge' which is so important to residents of Herongate which is accessible on foot, surrounding areas and across Shrewsbury. It would destroy the beautiful view which residents of the surrounding area enjoy.
