Show your Support for completion of the Red Bud Trail through Augusta.

The Issue

Augusta has the opportunity to be a destination town.  KDOT awarded Augusta the biggest grant in the state of Kansas but there is a timeline for us to get it going.  We need the city leaders of Augusta to understand how imperative it is that we take advantage of this opportunity.  The completion of the US HWY 54 bridge puts us one step closer to have over 50 miles of trail that will allow for safe cycling and walking that starts or ends in Augusta.  The traffic from the trail will add to the city tax revenue and possibly attract new businesses.  Last year we packed the council chambers twice with people interested in the city getting involved with the trail and it seems the council has forgotten. We are asking the council to think about the future of the city and it's residents and not be complacent with the status quo.  If we lose this grant for the trail due to non-action  it could possibly effect future grants being awarded to the city.  This project will not create any added taxes to the community.  Additionally, the City of Andover has pledged $250,000 to this project. Currently the funding is in place to make this dream a reality without any additional taxes.  We ask for you to show your support by signing this petition, contacting your elected city official and sharing this petition with others.
