Shout Factory: Make definitive Blu-ray releases of the original "Universal Monsters" films and "Young Frankenstein"[1974], the original "Halloween" films, the "Evil Dead" films, the Chucky films, the first 3 original "Living Dead" films, etc
The Issue
For every film that has multiple cuts, each cut of that film should be included on that film's first disc. Every film should be presented with the correct aspect ratio and with proper HD remastering.
Recommendations For Defintive Blu-ray Releases of The Original "Universal Studios Monsters" Films And "Young Frankenstein"[1974]:
These should be 2-disc/3-disc/4-disc sets that include all previous extras from all previous home video releases of the films, as well as all cuts for each film that has multiple cuts.
This is how the films should be dispersed through the sets:
"The Hunchback of Notre Dame"[1923], "The Phantom of The Opera"[1925], and "The Man Who Laughs"[1928]. Note: Please include new "talkie" audio tracks for these three films. In addition to the 1925 print & 1929 re-issue print versions of "The Phantom of The Opera"[1925], this release should include a definitive cut of "The Phantom of The Opera"[1925] that has the scenes that are only in the 1925 print version and the scenes that are only in the 1929 re-issue print version.
"Dracula"[1931] and it's sequels.
"Frankenstein"[1931] and it's sequels, including "Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman"[1943]. Note: An effort should be made to recreate the original uncut version of "Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman"[1943] by using the original film script to recreate the missing scenes with animation, and to have a spot-on Bela Lugosi impressionist perform the missing dialogue of the Frankenstein Monster and Ygor.
"The Mummy"[1932] and the four Mummy films that revolve around Kharis.
"The Invisible Man"[1933] and it's sequels.
"Werewolf of London"[1935] and "She-Wolf of London"[1946], as well as "The Wolfman"[1941] and it's sequels, including "Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman"[1943].
"Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein"[1948] and it's sequels. The sketch from "The Colgate Comedy Hour" in which Abbott & Costello meet the Creature should be included.
"The Creature From The Black Lagoon"[1954] and it's sequels. The sketch from "The Colgate Comedy Hour" in which Abbott & Costello meet the Creature should be included.
"The Phantom Creeps"[1939](in both it's serial form and it's movie form), "Man-Made Monster"[1941], "The Mad Ghoul"[1943], "House of Horrors"[1946] & "The Brute Man"[1946], "Cult of The Cobra"[1955], "This Island Earth"[1955], and "The Mole People"[1956].
Universal's "Inner Sanctum" films.
"Young Frankenstein"[1974].
Shout Factory, please re-release the original "Halloween" films in new definitive 2-disc/3-disc Blu-ray sets that include all of the extras for those films from the current 15-disc Blu-ray set(including those that were put onto that set's exclusive bonus disc) and all of the extras from previous releases of these films(whether it be DVD, Blu-ray, Laserdisc, or VHS) that were not included in the current 15-disc Blu-ray set. The definitive Blu-ray release of "Halloween" should include the theatrical cut of the film, the TV cut of the film, and the extended cut of the film(which is basically the theatrical cut of the film but with the additional footage from the film's TV cut added in). The definitive Blu-ray release of "Halloween 2" should include the theatrical cut of the film, the 2 TV cuts of the film, and a new cut of the film that's basically the theatrical cut but with the exclusive footage from the film's 2 TV cuts added in. Tweaks should be made to the opening scene of "Halloween 2", with the inaccuracies to the ending scene of "Halloween" being dealt with. The definitive Blu-ray release of "Halloween: H20: 20 Years Later" should include the theatrical cut of the film, the TV cut of the film(as seen on FX), and a new cut of the film that's basically the theatrical cut but with the exclusive footage from the film's TV cut added in. The definitive Blu-ray release of "Halloween: Resurrection" should include all 3 already existing cuts of the film, as well as a new definitive cut of the film and new extras. 2 tweaks should be made to "Halloween: H20: 20 Years Later", the first being that the bit in the high school yearbook that says "Class of 1978" should be changed to saying "Class of 1979", and the second being that the bit of dialogue in which Laurie states that Judith Myers was 17 when she died should be changed to Laurie stating that Judith Myers was 15 when she died. A definitive cut of "Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers", which should have the best elements of the theatrical cut and the Producer's Cut and should be edited in a way that makes it so that there aren't plot holes, should be made. Extended cuts of "Halloween 3: Season of The Witch", "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers", and "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers" should be made. A tweak should be made to a bit of dialogue in "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers", with the line "You going for a record here? The 7-Year-Old Insomniacs Hall of Fame?" being changed to "You going for a record here? The 8-Year-Old Insomniacs Hall of Fame?", due to the fact that Jamie Lloyd is an 8-year-old in the film. For "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers" and "Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers", the on-screen reveals of the titles of the films should be tweaked in order for the full titles of the films to be shown.
There should be a definitive Blu-ray release of "Halloween"[2007] and "Halloween 2"[2009] that includes the theatrical cuts of both films, the alternate cuts of both films, and new definitive cuts of the films that are basically the theatrical cuts but with the additional footage that is exclusive to the alternate cuts of the films, and all of the previous extras from all of the previous home video releases of the films.
Recommendations For Definitive Blu-ray Releases of "The Evil Dead", "The Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn", "Army of Darkness"(Which Should Be Re-titled "The Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness"), And "Evil Dead"[2013](Which Should Be Re-titled "The Evil Dead: The Next Generation"):
All of the previous extras from all of the previous home video releases of the films should be included.
The definitive Blu-ray release of "The Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn" should include the theatrical cut of the film, the Mexican TV cut of the film, and a new cut of the film that's basically the theatrical cut but with the exclusive footage from the film's Mexican TV cut added in.
The definitive Blu-ray release of "Army of Darkness"(which should be re-titled "The Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness") should include the theatrical cut of the film, the director's cut of the film, and a new cut of the film that's basically the director's cut but with all of the footage that was not included in the director's cut added in.
The definitive Blu-ray release of "Evil Dead"[2013](which should be re-titled "The Evil Dead: The Next Generation") should include both the theatrical cut of the film and the unreleased-on-home-video extended cut of the film.
Recommendations For Definitive Blu-ray Releases of The Chucky Films:
Both cuts of "Seed of Chucky", both cuts of "Curse of Chucky", and both cuts of "Cult of Chucky" should be included.
All of the previous extras from all of the previous home video releases of the films should be included, as well as new extras for each of the films.
For any other Chucky films that have the potential for extended cuts, extended cuts of them should be made.
Recommendations For Definitive Blu-ray Releases of "Night of The Living Dead"[1968], "Dawn of The Dead"[1978], And "Day of The Dead"[1985]:
The definitive Blu-ray release of "Night of The Living Dead"[1968] should include all the extras from the 1999 Sony DVD release, the 2008 Legend Films DVD release, the 2008 Dimension Extreme DVD release, and the 2002 Millenium Edition DVD release by Elite, and all extras from other previous home video releases of the film, as well as new extras and an extended cut of the film that has the re-discovered additional 9 minutes of footage. The 30th Anniversary Edition re-cut of the film(and any exclusive extras from it's DVD release) by John A Russo should also be included.
The definitive Blu-ray release of "Dawn of The Dead"[1978] should include all the extras from all the previous home video releases, as well as new extras and all the various cuts of the film, including the fanmade Final Cut.
The definitive Blu-ray release of "Day of The Dead"[1985] should include all the extras from all the previous home video releases, as well as the extended cut of the film.
Definitive Blu-ray releases like these should also be done for the "Phantasm" films, the "Re-Animator" films, the "Silent Night, Deadly Night" films, the "Maniac Cop" films, the original "Leprechaun" films, the "Candyman" films, the "Darkman" films, the "Wishmaster" films, the "Hellraiser" films, the "Pumpkinhead" films, "My Bloody Valentine"[1981], the "Puppet Master" films and the "Demonic Toys, Dollman, & Bad Channels" films, the "Scream" films, the reboots of "Night of The Living Dead", "Dawn of The Dead", and "Day of The Dead", and Hammer's Frankenstein films, Dracula films, Mummy films, "The Two Faces of Dr Jekyll", "The Phantom of The Opera", and "The Curse of The Werewolf".
