Reducing the Pennridge graduation requirements in Social Studies by 25%, from 4 to 3?

Reducing the Pennridge graduation requirements in Social Studies by 25%, from 4 to 3?
The Issue
There is an important vote being taken on December 5 at the Pennridge School Board Meeting which will force the District to reduce our graduation requirements in Social Studies from 4 to 3. We want to hear from the constituents in the Pennridge School District whether this is a good or bad idea. All school districts set a total number of credits for graduation (24 for Pennridge) and also required courses (Math, Science, Social Studies, English, etc) to set a standard for a well rounded education designed to prepare our students for the international world we live in today. Reducing the credits in Social Studies will result in at least 25% less instruction in history, geography, civics, government and many other important life skills as well as making World History an optional course. All surrounding school districts require 4 credits and World History. Students, parents, faculty and the administration have overwhelmingly recommended 4 credits. Reducing Social Studies credits would allow for one additional choice elective credit for students throughout their 4 years. Sign this petition if you believe our graduation requirements should remain at 4. Please send the link to others but only residents of the Pennridge School District (we need as many as possible). Please consider attending the board meeting and letting your thoughts be known. Thank you.
