The Issue

For decades now, workers of all ages have been forced to pay 12.4% of every paycheck to Social Security, (this 12.4% is split between employer and employee). However, this system is on the verge of financial delinquency:

  1. The Disability Insurance (DI) Trust is projected to start depleting by 2098 (given no unexpected radical change in current economic factors or disability claims).
  2. The Old-Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI) Trust Fund, which pays retirement benefits is expected to run out by 2033 (after which only 77% of benefits would be fulfilled by our tax dollars, decreasing over time).

By 2035, the combined reservations of the DI and OASI would run out, leaving around 17% of retirees without social security benefits. (83% coverage depleting over time).

This means that young, and even middle aged workers pay into a system today that may not even be there for them in the future. While current retirees are receiving benefits, it's long term stability is collapsing - jeopardizing both current and future generations. Given the current fact of rising general costs and stagnant wages, it's time for the people to come together and make real change. One that not only guarantees current Social Security funding to retirees, but also ensures the same benefits to the current and future members of our active workforce, while empowering businesses with payroll tax cuts. This petition moves to cut the payroll tax for both worker and employer by shifting the Social Security Liability to the National Debt in order to:

  1. Guarantee Full Benefits to Retirees (Without forcing minimum wage workers to foot the bill).
  2. Give current and future workers control over their own retirement (With payroll taxes eliminated, workers take more money home per paycheck).
  3. Hold the Government Accountable for Retirees (Shifting Social Security to the national debt shifts burden away from working-class Americans onto government bonds, a fraction of reallocated military spending, and raised taxes on capital gains for billionaires).

This is a petition signed by members of We, The People of the United States and our supporters who demand a fairer, more transparent Social Security system. It's time we hold the government accountable and ensure the financial well-being of our current and future retirees, without taxing the working class and minimum wage earners.

Sign now to demand real change! Together, we can end the hidden tax on workers and create a system that benefits all generations!

I am also currently working on a petition to ensure that corporations cannot exploit tax loopholes in response. This future petition will serve as a protectionist measure for the above petition, ensuring that companies do not shift their tax burden onto workers and consumers through retaliatory wage cuts, layoffs, or artificial price hikes.
