The Issue

Football doesn't just stand as a sport, it is a culture and an important facet of our community that keeps thousands of children and young adults both physically active and socially engaged. But, the current practice of hosting the grassroots football season in the colder months poses safety hazards due to the softer pitches and also increases expenses as the prices for artificial pitches escalate in winter.

By shifting the grassroots football season to be played in the more amicable months between March and September, it will drastically reduce the rates of injuries due to playing on softer pitches, will increase game time by having fewer games called off thus promoting safety and encouraging higher participation. Additionally, this shift will ensure the affordability of grassroots football by avoiding the higher costs of artificial pitches that occur in winter.

With 20% more sports injuries occurring in colder months and a price jump in the winter for artificial pitch rentals, it is both a safer and more economical choice. We believe this is a call to safeguard the passion of young football lovers and their families, encouraging better affordability and safer play and with the lighter nights we would be able to have mid week games to enjoy also.
