Update:
I just got off the phone with our new case analyst, from the office of the Child Protection Ombudsman. I sent them an email before I started this petition, and they were quick to respond. I had to the opportunity to not only share our story, but we were able to discuss the petition. They'll now be looking into the specifics of the case, making sure it was handled appropriately, and trying to figure out why, exactly, it was assigned to begin with. I feel these answers will help with our goal here, as well. It'll allow us to hopefully better address any misunderstandings others might have, about care or needs of special needs children, before it gets to this point. I was also told I can share the petition, and any other info to help shed light on the issue, like other similar stories, those supporting/advocating, etc. It has the possibility of being forwarded to the Deputy Ombudsman. This is the one that plays a role in developing policies. So, fingers crossed, and let's keep advocating!
