Surprise, surprise, NHS Scotland have the same issues as Marine Scotland Compliance. The close friendships within each organisation lead to the bullying claims over the years to being ignored.
The public should have insight into the action plans that were promised to tackle bullying and harassment. Have anyone seen any of these planes yet? No would be the answer.
The apology given to the NHS Highland employees was for the inappropriate behaviour but it falls short of acknowledging the bullying as is what happened in our sister's case. An apology was given in 2015 for the inappropriate behaviour but not for the bullying. An apology is needed for the bullying that many people have experienced and the harm it has caused them.
We wanted an apology from the whole board, and more importantly we wanted an apology for the bullying that hundreds of people have experienced and for the harm they have suffered. Each person needs to be heard, they need to have a voice to tell their stories. Instead they are disciplined, interrogated, intimidated and degraded. Their jobs are threatened because they are whistleblowers.
The NHS has been appointing whistleblowing champions to the board. This was discussed within Marine Scotland Compliance years ago and a group was established. However it was disbanded when many employees with Marine Scotland Compliance were grateful that this group was set up. Short live it was, lasted about 3 months. Our sister wanted to become a support champion so that people that were being bullied and harassed had somewhere to go other than to their managers or human resources. As usual anything our sister suggested fell on deaf ears and got ignored.
Our sister is not suspended but yet she has no access to any work computers to keep up to date on what is going on and within her job getting regular emails about legislations changes and other work related material is vital to her role.
She has been ostracised, discriminated against and portrayed as being never existent. Jobs are posted each week with the Scottish Government websites and if she did have any interest, she could not apply because she cannot see these vacancies.
The human resources team have taken over every part of our sister’s life. They have allowed the harassment to go to her home by co-workers sending vial cards. They use her personal email to bombard her with emails threatening her with this and that. They tell her you are not suspended but you cannot go near your place of work. You are not allowed to be part of the Scottish Government structure that was supposed to protect you. Instead our sister who has not been found guilty of anything is housebound and each week the human resources team send her emails telling her that they are considering more disciplinary action, they now have increased the serious charges to gross misconduct and this is her not even at her work. This is while our sister is at home. Now they try to use the system that if we cannot get her through disciplinary we will go after her medically. They tell her to take holidays. From my experience, taking a holiday is to rest and enjoy. How do they expect her to do this when she returns it will all be there and more waiting for her?
I have spoken with many people and learned a lot but the most disgusting thing is how can you employ someone who carried out a criminal act of assault against a woman and found him guilty and he works in a village in Ross and Cromarty? How can you employ someone was involved in a fraud investigation that resulted in one senior officer who worked in a port in Lochaber being dismissed for falsifying measurement for fishing vessel licences when to measure a boat as far as I am aware and the second man holding the tape is the same misogynistic man you have promoted twice over? Then the officer who restrained our sister so that the other officer who has since left could tape her to the chair and then place tape over her mouth get a promotion in a town in the royal burgh of Argyll and Bute of Scotland? It is as if anyone who can stick the knife in our sister's back get that boys club pat on the back. The senior management team mainly freemasons have gone that extra mile to ensure that their boys are not touched. How many of these people are being investigated? Answer - NIL.
