The rescues are overflowing, dogs are being pulled by bad rescues and are suffering fates worse than ending up in a Riverside County Shelter. Rescues are pulling for other rescues who for one reason or another don't have or can't get their own Approved Partnerships with the shelter.

Is it always better to pull an animal to save it's life? The answer to that question is highly debatable depending on who you speak to. Many believe that a rescue should only pull a dog with a solid plan in place; others believe you pull a dog to save it's life even if it means that the dog may be placed into boarding; sent to an out of state rescue, foster or adopter; or in some horrific cases, ends up dead due to neglect and abuse. This writer believes you only pull a dog with a solid plan in place.

Change begins with the lawmakers; the residents who vote must demand change in the State of California. NO ANIMAL SHOULD LEAVE THE RIVERSIDE SHELTERS UNALTERED. The shelters should be required to spay/neuter every animal being rescued or adopted. Rescues MUST commit to immediate vetting on all rescue animals to insure that they are altered before going to a foster or adopter.  Backyard breeders need to be stopped. Adopters must pass a background check and complete an interview process on every animal they adopt. Fees need to be lowered for owners wanting to reclaim their lost pets. Many surrender their pets because they cannot pay fines/fees for their lost animals.

Stop being complacent with the way things are - stop looking the other way while waiting for others to do something.

YOU DO SOMETHING. MAKE CHANGE!
