SHEIN Reduce Working Hours and Improve Wages

SHEIN Reduce Working Hours and Improve Wages
The Issue
After several years of launching investigations and conducting research, all sources indicate that SHEIN places its employees in terrible working environments while barely paying them minimum wage. Though they’ve claimed to be actively working to improve this, little has changed.
When undercover reporters were sent into some of SHEIN’s factories, their findings were alarming: employees were toiling 17-18 hour workdays, had no holidays, were in high-stress environments, and received poor wages. Join us in demanding that these conditions are improved.
The working-hours are inhumane. When asked, many SHEIN employees responded that they would begin work at 8 am and finish at 2 or 3 am. On average, many of these workers will toil a total of 17 to 18 hours only to go home and do it again the next day. There are no set hours, only “when the work is finished” as stated by an employee. In a week, these workers are working over 75 hours.
In addition to the inhumane workday, SHEIN employees receive hardly any compensation for their labor. They each receive a salary of around $564 monthly only if they meet the daily requirement of making 500 garments per day. Many times, workers will receive their pay late, if they even see it at all. Furthermore, if they are to make any mistakes while working, ¾ of their daily wage will be deducted.
As for days off, they’re virtually nonexistent. Workers receive one day off per month.
The factory environment is tense. Workers are constantly being yelled at and pressured to work faster. SHEIN also fails to place accessible fire exits, so employees’ safety is in constant threat. Moreover, laborers have no written contracts.
The lives of these workers are constantly threatened. Let’s demand that the working-hours are reduced to eight hours a day. Let’s demand that the wages are livable. Let’s demand that SHEIN workers are treated like human beings.
