Dear All It's National Tree Week and what better week to celebrate the progress that has been made over the last incredibly busy month! The March Against Felling that took place on November 14th was a resounding success. With over 500 people in attendance, it really was a great show of solidarity and hope. Well done to Anne Barr and her team who have been out working hard to gather signatures. Lets try to get to 3000 by Christmas. And finally, this week is National Tree Week and what better time to celebrate our trees. We are running a Schools Drawing Competition with Children's Illustrator Lydia Monks. Children have been asked to draw a tree and include one sentence expressing "Why Trees Are Important". We hope this will be a really positive way of getting children to think about and engage with their environment. We will be visiting local schools this week, including Netheredge and Greystones School to talk to the children about our trees and why they are so valuable. More on this to follow. Nether Edge Neighbourhood Group (NENG) have kindly agreed to give us a stall at their Christmas market this coming Sunday 4th December. The Save Sheffield Trees tote bags have been a resounding success and are 90% sold out. The remaining few will be for sale at the stall so come by and get yours! That's all for now.
