Floatopia is a yearly memorial day & 4th of July event that is loosely organized by event goers through social media.  It's been going on for more than ten years,  yet city offical Hansen blatantly lied and denied knowing about the event. 

15 THOUSAND event goers left 10-20 TONS of garbage on Chicks Beach,  Virginia,  this past memorial day 2019.  The garbage included discarded floats, tents,  towels,  and LOTS of alcoholic beverage containers. There were NO bathroom facilities either! Locals written complaints have been ignored for years. 

Alcohol is illegal on the beach,  so where were the police to enforce this BLATANT breaking of that law!? This entire event needs to be banned,  canned,  and never repeated! WE DEMAND THAT LAWS BE ENACTED SPECIFICALLY TO PREVENT EVENTS LIKE THIS FROM EVER HAPPENING AGAIN.

Numerous other cities in California and Florida have already created laws to ban FLOATOPIA,  why not Virginia as well? Obviously they need their arms twisted in order to DO THEIR JOBS! LET'S GET TO TWISTING Y'ALL!!!!

The participants and especially city officials need to be held accountable! STOP KILLING OUR MARINE LIFE WITH YOUR GARBAGE, and human excrement!!! Y'all are a disgrace and should be ashamed of yourselves!
