Petition updateSeverely Limit or Cease Unsafe and Environmentally Damaging Traffic to Mount SomaHaywood County Commissioners meet with Bald Creek Residents

While last year Haywood County Commissioner Terry Ramey met with local residents of the Bald Creek community to discuss theft, property damage, environmental and safety issues, the remaining Commissioners scoffed and neglected to discuss in depth any issues- 'not our problem' - this year the elephant in the room inched a little further when 5 locals attended their Sept meeting - link here- https://www.youtube.com/live/Oa-04CcBdhA?feature=shared - if you watch minutes 5:00 through 35:00 . Haywood Commissioners outside of Ramey still believe they are jurisdictional challenged, it's worthy to note that private property damage, theft and littering is really ONLY happening in Haywood County.

Buncombe County commissioners have taken no action either, although Buncombe County Emergency Services, under Kevin Tipton, has tried where and when it can to handle the many violations that fall under his purview. Environmental Services had Mount Soma mgmt repair where damage was obvious related to raw sewage being flushed into the French Broad River watershed- but based on current videos, shit continues to roll down on Sandy Mush residents including many spring fed well systems.

Outside of Commissioner Ramey, complacency and inaction continues to abound- and the many specific and in some cases illegal, issues continue to plague residents, taxpayers, farmers and business owners of Haywood's Upper Crabtree community as well as Buncombe's Sandy Mush residents.

Considering apparent tax concessions that were part of the deal at Mt Soma's founding with Buncombe County, it appears the founders continue to enrich themselves on the neglect of elected and appointed officials in Western NC. We encourage signers of this petition to remember this when election time comes round.
