Allow unleashed dogs at Tanjong Beach

Allow unleashed dogs at Tanjong Beach
The Issue
Tanjong Beach, Sentosa, Singapore has recently started enforcing the rule to leash the dogs at all times.
Tanjong Beach has always had the rule to leash the dogs, but unofficially all the dogs enjoyed running free up until recently (March 2020).
It would have only been more progressive to convert this unofficial dog beach to an official dog beach. But, we were saddened to see the very opposite - the beach patrol is now enforcing the "dogs on leash at all times” rule.
Here are some facts.
Total number of beaches in Singapore : 9*
Total number of beaches that let dogs run free : 0.
Do you think this is fair? Don’t the dogs of Singapore deserve better? The dogs are confined to apartment living on weekdays, and on the weekends the overcrowded and tiny dog parks are not enough for active dogs who need to run in open spaces to stay healthy and happy. Dogs get depressed too. That is a fact.
If you agree that #activedogsarehappydogs and the least we can do is to allow dogs to be unleashed and happy at just ONE beach in the entire country then please sign this petition and share it with your friends with #unleashtanjongbeach (it’s FREE! No need to chip in any cash at the last step)

Some alternative suggestions we would like Sentosa Management and AVS Singapore to consider…
• Allow unleashed dogs for certain time during the day e.g.: 7 AM to 12 noon and 4 PM to 7 PM. When the sand is not too hot for the dogs to walk on it. People who don't like unleashed dogs can plan their day accordingly.
• Otherwise, allow half the beach towards the end (beyond the life guard post) where there are no restaurants to be leash free for dogs.
• Another option is to allow unleashed dogs on weekdays + Saturdays (or Sundays) only.
There are always way in which we can be considerate to all kinds of people - including dog owners. It is time we stop discriminating against dogs and dog owners.
*NOTE: List of beaches in Singapore
- Beach along East Coast Park
- Beach along Sembawang Park
- Beach along West Coast Park
- Beach along Pasir Ris Park
- Changi Beach Park
- Punggol Beach
- Palawan Beach
- Siloso Beach
- Tanjong Beach
