Send Corrections Canine Officer Rogue Home to his Family

The Issue

On May 14th, 2022 the Minnesota Department of Corrections Rush City facility had a staff assault situation in progress.  The aggressor had a history of assault both inside and outside of the criminal justice system.

In this situation the offender attempted to assault multiple staff and Corrections Canine Officer Henninger deployed his partner Rogue to end the situation with the least amount of injuries as possible.  This deployment resulted in the aggressor getting bit by Rogue.

Now fast forward 11 months later, this bite was deemed a bad bite as well as excessive force.  Now if that was the case why were they left together working inside the facility for almost a year if they were dangers to others.  On April 7th Officer Henninger received notice from the Commissioner of Corrections, Paul Schnell, that he was being demoted for this situation and Rogue was ripped out of his home.

We understand that Rogue is the property of the department, but when you grow up knowing only one home it is inhumane to rip you out of that home.  ROGUE is a co-worker to everyone, but he is family in the Henninger household. The decision to remove Rogue from his home and his family needs to be reversed immediately and Rogue needs to be sent back to his family.
