The Jane Goodall Act was introduced by Jane Goodall and Senator Murray Sinclair in November 2020 and it has still not been passed. This act will help protect animals in captivity (specifically great apes and elephants) by banning their captivity, banning the use of these animals, including cetaceans, for entertainment purposes, and building on the law that bans the importation and hunting of elephants. These animals are being constantly harmed by being taken away from their natural habitats, being forced to perform for human entertainment, and being hunted because they are in possession of ivory (an object beyond their control). This is something that needs to be stopped as soon as possible to protect the vast amount of animals that share the earth with us.

Cette loi aidera à protéger les animaux en captivité (en particulier les grands singes et les éléphants) en interdisant leur captivité, en interdisant l’utilisation de ces animaux, y compris les cétacés, à des fins de divertissement et en s’appuyant sur la loi qui interdit l’importation et la chasse des éléphants. C’est quelque chose qui doit être arrêté dès que possible pour protéger la grande quantité d’animaux qui partagent la terre avec nous.
