CONSTITUTIONAL AND LEGAL REFORM FOR NON-HUMAN ANIMALS
The Issue
On September 21, 2021, various Senators from the MORENA Parliamentary Group presented two initiatives that seek the recognition of non-human animals as sentient beings that have rights, which they may exercise through a figure of guardianship held by the person who has them under their care or anyone with an interest in their benefit.
If these reforms are achieved, will be historic, the quality of the non-human animal would be recognized for the first time in our Constitution, with rights that are inherent to their nature and that must be guaranteed by the State.
Mexico has the opportunity to be an example of unity and empathy towards a group of beings who deserve our respect and consideration. Join this cause, sign this petition so that the commissions of Constitutional Matters, Governance and Second Legislative Studies, pass the proposals and then be approved by the Senate Plenary.
