Seize and Relocate All Animals from Marineland of Canada

Seize and Relocate All Animals from Marineland of Canada
The Issue
We, the undersigned, are calling on the Government of Ontario and the Government of Canada to take immediate action to protect all remaining animals held at Marineland of Canada in Niagara Falls.
For decades, Marineland has faced repeated allegations of animal neglect, poor living conditions, and preventable deaths involving both marine and land animals. Despite inspections and public outrage, the situation continues to decline — and the animals continue to suffer.
Under Ontario’s Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) Act, the Solicitor General has the authority to inspect, remove, or seize animals in distress. We urge the Ontario government to exercise this power immediately and coordinate with federal departments to ensure every animal is relocated to a safe, accredited facility or sanctuary.
We further call on:
Fisheries and Oceans Canada to oversee and facilitate the relocation of all marine mammals, including belugas, dolphins, and other species, to sanctuaries or suitable facilities.
Environment and Climate Change Canada to ensure compliance with international wildlife protection standards and to enforce transparency in any relocation or custody process.
These animals — marine and terrestrial — deserve compassion, safety, and proper care. They have endured years of confinement, inadequate conditions, and systemic neglect.
We urge immediate federal and provincial intervention to seize the animals at Marineland and ensure their relocation to trusted, humane environments.
The time for action is now.
