Seek justice for Happy Pants Ranch in Kent, similar victims to Canada's Ostrich Farm

The Issue

I live in Canada, where the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has adopted similar harsh measures, mirroring the actions taken by APHA in the UK. It is a distressing day for those who cherish animals, as an animal sanctuary in Kent, the Happy Pants Ranch, faces an unimaginable order from APHA. This sanctuary, which houses mostly disabled or rescued animals, was suddenly instructed to cull all its birds, including an emu affectionately named BB, after an avian flu outbreak was detected on site. To add to this tragedy, the sanctuary owner was unjustly forced to clean up the aftermath, removing the blood of these innocent creatures after they were allegedly shot in a similar crude fashion as the Ostriches in Canada a few days later.  https://www.facebook.com/thehappypantsranch?

All I know is, Amey has dedicated her life to doing everything possible to give all her rescues the best life. And make her sanctuary exactly that. Her volunteers are totally loyal. Donations of food, and surplus things that could be useful, are even sent over to them by caring stores, organisations, people doing the right thing in making this a community endeavour. This sanctuary brings everyone together - rather than divide.

It would be awesome if a well known celebrity - an animal advocate - could be a spokesperson / and sponsor for the Ranch 🙏

People with mental health issues, children, adults from all different backgrounds, love to visit or help out there. Visitors are educated in the types of animals living there. Amey has made this a much loved community oasis. It makes no sense to destroy it. Destroy the sanctuary then you're having to destroy the innocent rescues. Amey is highly creative, driven, with a vision, and in her loving, kind, compassionate - but strong way - will keep on fighting.

The sanctuary has proven to be an absolute necessity to safely home animals, including special needs animals, and those abused and neglected - who have nowhere else to go. They're not seen as just 'animals' to Amey but her much loved family, given names, freedom to be themselves.

Visitors are delighted in the calm, beautiful area that Amey and her volunteers have created, which all of the rescues can call home, and should feel safe, and looked after. Even the wildlife love visiting there!

Amey has certainly had to be so strong throughout all of this. And her positive, creative, can do attitude, against all being thrown at her, is a learning curve for us all.
APHA's order leaves us questioning the humanity and the compassion underlying such severe actions. It's crucial to address the avian flu while considering the sanctity of life and respecting the compassionate missions of places like Happy Pants Ranch. We need to find a balance that ensures public health and safety without resorting to such drastic and emotionally damaging measures.

We call on APHA and relevant authorities to reconsider alternative solutions. Methods such as permanent quarantine and comprehensive vaccination strategies for sanctuaries should be on the table, especially when it comes to protected environments like Happy Pants Ranch.

By signing this petition, you are standing up for animals who cannot stand up for themselves. You are advocating for sanctuaries that work tirelessly to provide care and refuge to those who have nowhere else to go. Sign now to urge APHA to pause the cull and explore more humane methods. Your voice can help create a future where compassion leads our decisions.
