Fair Future for the NDIS

We, the undersigned, call on the Australian Government to urgently address the growing crisis in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and commit to delivering a fair, sustainable, and transparent system for all Australians.

The NDIS was built as a promise, a bold commitment to support people with disability to live full, independent lives with dignity, choice, and control. But that promise is now under serious threat.

Support plans are being cut without explanation. Participants are asked to reprove permanent disabilities. Vital services like Support Coordination haven’t seen a price increase since 2019 - while inflation, compliance, and service complexity continue to grow. Ethical providers are being excluded from grants and pushed to the brink, while fraudulent operators continue to exploit the system without consequence.

This is not a question of “efficiency.” It’s a matter of fairness, accountability, and basic human rights.

 
We are calling for urgent action across five key pillars:

1. Sustainable and Transparent Funding
Long-term bipartisan funding commitments that protect the NDIS from political interference. Public reporting of comparative national spending, including the cost of political entitlements.

2. Fair Pricing for Ethical Providers
Immediate review of NDIS pricing, starting with Support Coordination. A framework that reflects the true cost of service delivery and supports ethical, community-based organisations.

3. Real Action on Fraud
Transparent investigation and enforcement of provider fraud. Protection for whistleblowers. Public reporting on the outcomes of NDIA and Commission-led audits and reviews.

4. Dignity and Certainty for Participants
End the cycle of reassessments for people with lifelong conditions. Protect access to essential supports, therapy, transport, and accommodation. Restore trust in the system by putting participants first.

5. Accountability in National Priorities
Publicly compare NDIS expenditure to other major costs - including unfunded political pensions. Reform national priorities to reflect community values, not political privilege.

 
Our Immediate Campaign Demands:

A full, independent review of NDIS Support Coordination pricing by July 2025
A Parliamentary Inquiry into NDIA fraud response and provider oversight systems

This is not just a funding issue. It’s a people issue. It affects families, workers, businesses, and entire communities. We cannot allow the NDIS to be quietly dismantled by neglect, fear, or politics.

We are asking the Prime Minister, the Minister for the NDIS, and all Members of Parliament to act now to protect the future of the NDIS - before more is lost.
