WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME TO SAVE DARRENS LONG TERM PLACEMENT… please help us help him 😢😢

Darren’s situation is now critical. Please keep sharing.

Since launching this petition, things have gone from difficult to devastating.
Despite every single person involved in Darren’s care — his family, advocates, and professionals — clearly stating that he should remain in his current home, Wiltshire Council continues to push forward with plans to relocate him.

This whole nightmare started last year, the council refused to uplift the funding needed for Darren’s bespoke 24/7 care. They based this decision on a costing tool — not on the person, not on Darren. They ignored the psychological, emotional, and physical harm this would cause.

A Best Interests Assessment was carried out — but it was led by his own social worker, an employee of Wiltshire council… the ones pushing for his removal. Darren’s social worker was the chief decision maker in this process and has reached the conclusion despite our statements, and despite Darren clearly showing her that he does not want to leave his home and go to a new place, that it is in his best interests to move… 

Four written statements said Darren should stay.

His doctor, who had raised serious concerns, was not even asked for input. 
The conclusion?… That he should move.

😔 I’m heartbroken — and furious.

Darren is 30. He is severely autistic, non-verbal, and cannot understand why this is happening.

Uprooting him from his safe space will traumatise him. It will trigger intense behaviours and distress. And the council knows this. They’ve seen it before.

🏠 His care home isn’t just a placement — it’s his life.

His carers are his friends. He’s built trust. His community knows and accepts him. They understand that he’s scared of dogs. They don’t judge him.

If he’s moved miles away:

He will lose all of this.

He will be cut off from his family and his routines.
I won’t be able to visit regularly — I have health issues and I have another child with disabilities to care for.

Please, please help me keep Darren safe.
