Secure a Building for a Community Center in Douglas County

The Issue

Having been raised in a low-income community with limited resources, I intimately understand the struggles many families face. For the past 5 years, I've dedicated myself to providing free programs and services for youth and their families in Georgia. However, running a summer camp for a couple of years has been particularly impactful for parents who cannot afford typical summer programs for their children. These camps not only offer a safe haven for young children but also prevent them from spending their summers home alone with limited food resources, resulting in lower academic performance when returning to school.

Unfortunately, despite the success and positive impact of these programs, I have struggled to garner the necessary support from community leaders to keep these vital services running. The immediate need is to establish a permanent community center dedicated to offering continuous support to the vulnerable population, especially focusing on the youth who rely on these services as a lifeline.

A feasible solution to fully realize this vision and sustain these crucial programs is to locate and secure a building that can be transformed into a community center. Such a center would provide a stable base for educational programs, meal services, and recreational activities, ensuring that no child is left without support. In addition, it would offer parents much-needed peace of mind, knowing their children are in a safe and nurturing environment during the summer and beyond.

With your support, we can urge local authorities and community leaders to assist in the identification and development of an appropriate building that can serve as a beacon of hope and growth for our community. Establishing a community center in Douglasville isn't just about providing a space—it's about securing a future for our children and strengthening our community ties.
