The Government's revaluation of business rates will hit Lambeth businesses hard. 

Some businesses will face rises of up to 45% when the new rates come into force from this April. 

Rents have already increased dramatically in recent years and the added burden of a huge rates rise will have a negative impact on jobs, investment and the health of our high streets.

We are calling for the Government to:

• Provide transitional relief that will enable small and large businesses to plan for rate rises
• Give positive consideration to mitigating proposals that will enable London businesses to generate the income needed to meet the rise
• Create an increased inner and outer London Small Business Rates Relief threshold that reflects the specific problems faced by small businesses in the capital. 
• Commit to a long-term review of the effectiveness of business rates as a way of taxing business
