BIG NEWS! A resolution for SPS to join Fort Lawton EIS is on tomorrow's School Board Agenda!!!

Tomorrow's school board meeting will be very important for the Fort Lawton School Coalition! A resolution which is co-sponsored by Directors Harris, Peters, Burke and Pinkham will be brought forth for both introduction and action: Resolution 2017/18-6 – Immediate Request to the City of Seattle (City) to incorporate Seattle Public Schools (SPS) uses as alternatives to be considered in the Fort Lawton Redevelopment Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) - Approval of this item would adopt a Board resolution requesting inclusion of Seattle Public Schools uses as alternatives to be considered in the City of Seattle's Fort Lawton redevelopment planning process and EIS. We are grateful to these school board members for their community engagement, proactive thinking for the district and the future infrastructure needs, and for considering students across the entire district with a cost-saving opportunity that will free up funds for other capital projects. The vote has not yet occurred, we will give an update tomorrow night. We are hopeful that this opportunity for SPS to enter into the master re-development of Fort Lawton is successful and we look forward to the details of how the district can best use this land.
