The residents of Mathews Lane in Bungendore are alarmed by the road’s rapid deterioration. In just six months, it’s become dangerously potholed and corrugated — posing serious risks to vehicles, pedestrians, and farm traffic.

If this is the state after six months, what will it look like in another 12? The 18-month grading cycle is clearly inadequate, and the recent repairs have failed. This calls into question both the quality of the work and the road’s Category 7 classification.

The only viable solution is to seal Mathews Lane. Temporary fixes are ineffective, damage vehicles, and waste public money. A sealed road would ensure safety, reduce long-term costs, and protect the community’s infrastructure.

We urge Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council to make sealing Mathews Lane a priority.
