Shut down sduhsd schools due to coronavirus

The Issue

Coronavirus has now been declared a pandemic by WHO. (The world health organization) California is known to be one of the most heavily affected states and colleges and primary schools have been shut down throughout the state. However, SDUHSD has yet to close down it’s campuses.  Students commute throughout all of San Diego to attend these schools, many which are very, very large. On a daily basis, we as students, most likely interact or come into contact with over 200 people, just at school. This can contribute to an easy spread of the disease. Students, parents, and teachers alike feel unsafe going anywhere with large crowds and unfortunately these schools are all very large. Some parents may fear sending their child to school especially if they have a week immune system. Hundreds of students will rack up incredible amount of absences. If the schools shut down but continue education through online courses, packets etc. then students and teachers will be reassured of their health but still be able to continue learning.
