More than 45,000 people, together with MPs from across the political spectrum, supported this petition.

Today, the Government has announced that VAT on domestic electricity bills will be removed, initially for six months.

While this isn't the full proposal we campaigned for, it is nevertheless encouraging to see a new Government willing to consider changes that could help households facing high energy costs.

We hope this initial step will, over time, become something more permanent.

One thing this does demonstrate is that when enough people speak with one voice, Governments do sometimes listen.

That's why we've today launched a brand new national petition calling on the Prime Minister to make sustainable hospice funding a national priority.

Nearly 300 Parliamentarians from across both Houses have already lent their support because they recognise the growing financial pressures facing hospices and the families who rely upon them.
