Ro---- Ash----- (Mr Easter!)Kingston-upon-Thames, United Kingdom
Oct 31, 2026

We have at last reached our milestone of 253 signatures, matching the current total of my inactive (though not permanently abandoned) campaign advocating for snap elections to be held in the US, though we will pull well ahead of it and reach 300 signatures before both that petition and my Surbiton safety fencing campaign ever do!

We actually reached the milestone on Thursday night (29th October) and 246 signatures late on Wednesday after my update announcing we had reached 241 signatures, but am only announcing it now due to potential signature retractions and the unfair 3 email per week limit I am protesting.

I have been dying to reach this milestone, and we’ve done it with the exact same number of international signatures outside the UK as my US electoral reform petition that I never even asked for!

Despite the sluggish start and an early campaign hiatus at just 23 signatures, we have really picked up momentum and managed to hit our 100 and 200 signatures milestones just 31 days apart despite having to lock the page twice due to funding constraints between those two dates.

This will become only my fourth ever campaign on the platform to reach and surpass the 300 signature mark, and the third of 2026 to reach that milestone (my main Earliest Easter campaign hit that milestone back in May and one of my separate local petitions hit that milestone recently). My joke petition to stop the days from getting shorter is locked at 250 signatures for its seasonal closure, thus cannot reach 300 signatures this year.

I will also reveal I have spent significantly less money getting this petition to 253 signatures than the US election reform campaign (over £100 better off)!

Like all my campaigns, I create a detailed timeline of the exact dates we hit our milestones, here is the specific timeline for this campaign:

  • ·      Petition created – 4th July
  • ·      5 signatures – 20th July
  • ·      50 signatures – 30th August
  • ·      100 signatures – 11th September
  • ·      200 signatures – 12th October
  • ·      246 signatures – 28th October
  • ·      Both 250 and 253 signatures – 29th October

It’s no coincidence that both my Surbiton station safety fencing petition and the US electoral reform campaigns have similar signatures counts and were running neck-and-neck, this is because I was funding them simultaneously with my past successful petition throughout 2024 and 2025. Both pages however had to be locked in early December 2025 due to an urgent matter and imminent deadline with my past successful campaign (which at the time I thought my successful campaign would fail), this why they were left at 241 and 243 signatures respectively as the start of the year before launching my Easter project and other 2026 concurrent campaigns like this one.

Under my new proposed system, when a user selects the ‘Local’ scope, there should be a city/county, borough, and post/zip code option where you type the desired locations in a box provided.

·      An example of a campaign that needs the widest variety of the ‘Local’ scope was the unsuccessful petition to stop the expansion of the London ultra-low emissions zone (which would need to be geofenced to users within Greater London) and a campaign about TfL train strikes.

·      An example of the middle tier of the ‘Local’ scope would be a campaign for a brand new play park within the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames, with the ads geofenced to users within the borough or a campaign to stop oil pollution in the River Wandle, with the ads distributed to users within the Royal Borough of Merton.

·      An example of the tightest tier of the ‘Local’ scope would be a campaign about saving an under threat authentic Korean restaurant in New Malden, with the ads distributed strictly to users with the postcode KT3 or the unsuccessful attempt to stop Tudor Williams on New Malden High Street from closing down.

As mentioned in previous updates, I am not banning users from outside the targeted areas from signing ‘Local’ and ‘National’ scoped campaigns, but given that hyper-local causes need hyper-local support, ads must be geofenced to the targeted areas to give those causes a better chance of winning.

I am also not banning social media sharing, however it should be an optional tool for users with such accounts, and if a user with such an account pays for ads only and reaches 100 signatures within a month, change.org’s system should recognise the user as having a social media account and should be ineligible for the ‘Free Promotion’ reward.

Under my new system, signers are still allowed to manually remove their signatures, however this should be done within 48 hours of originally signing to keep the campaign’s momentum afloat (particularly for users without social media) and must be blocked within 24 hours of a campaign reaching a major milestone, leaving only a 24 hour window for those users who happen to sign on Day 2 after signing to manually remove their signatures. To protect the final tally on successful, failed or on closed campaigns, the signature count should be locked, however there is no upper signature limit for my proposed ‘Delete petition’ button and creators should still be allowed to delete any petition marked as active, failed, or temporarily closed if they change their mind about their cause without having to contact Change.org staff.

Successful campaigns however must be blocked from being manually deleted under my new proposed system as they represent physical change, so must campaigns actively being promoted.

While individual signatures themselves cannot be removed from a campaign marked as ‘Closed’ under my new proposed system, this strict rule does not apply to the ‘Delete petition’ option. If a user changes their opinion on a cause, any petition except successful ones can be deleted under my new system, however the platform should issue an automatic notification to supporters if a user chooses the ‘Delete petition’ option so they know the a change of circumstance has taken place.

Automatic notifications from the platform should be sent to supporters whenever a user declares victory, accepts failure (selects the ‘Campaign Failed’ option) or chooses the ‘Delete petition’ option.

“300 day” will definitely occur in November, and I am pushing for 400+ by the end of the year. Will post my next update when the time is right, but for now this is the announcement I have been dying to make and I've included an image of the US flag to represent passing the current signature count of my inactive US election reform petition.
