To whomever it may concern,

   Many of Lindenhurst residents, business owners/employees and drivers on the road have experienced the problematic minors that recklessly ride their bikes endangering the welfare of everyone (including themselves). The same group of minors ride bicycles from three to around thirty plus teens all day and night. They harass, vandalize, taunt, scream racial slurs and derogatory remarks at business owners and anyone within ear shot; all while riding and doing wheelies in and out of traffic. This causing a huge problem. Merging carelessly from one side of the road on mainly on N. Wellwood Avenue to the other side and back again repeatedly (as well as John Street, Hoffman and many other surrounding areas including Babylon, West Babylon, to Copaigue). These bikers are 1 mistake away from causing tremendous accidents on the road. They are more then likely to cause major accidents due to the lack of respect for the road and minimal reaction time/space for the drivers.

   The Mayor himself has even witnessed these juvenile delinquents according to the article in the "Newsday" paper. "Mayor Michael Lavorata heard about teens riding their bikes recklessly, but "until I witnessed it the other day, I didn't know the magnitude of it,".

   "Suffolk County Police Department has gotten reports of this throughout the county and noted that police can already arrest and charge someone with reckless endangerment, including juvenile delinquents. "

   This is not a matter of a new law, this is a petition to bring awareness to ENFORCE the riders who are recklessly endangering the town and the people. If you have witnessed, heard about or agree and feel this is a problem, sign this petition. We as a community need to stand together. These petitions really make an impact once it's brought to court for evidence. With enough signatures we can catch the attention of the right people to hold these minors/parents accountable. Minors are not invincible nor an exception to the rules of the road. I'm not exactly sure if the parents are unaware, cant control their children, or simply don't care however, sign and show that you do for the safety of us all.
