My name is Anne-Marie. I am single by choice, and have been a hopeful mother-to-become for the last 10 years plus, but I am really struggling to bring this dream to life. Bringing me here looking for your support. 

I am 36 years old -  with age being a big concern, when it comes to conception and healthy pregnancy abilities. I  have been fighting a battle with the Scottish government to allow single woman access to Fertility treatment for many years, just as couples are allowed of any sex, sexual orientation and self identification, most health concerns, personal status and capabilities, but not us singles. We are left with nothing more than acknowledged discrimination from MSPs, MP's, the NHS and the Scottish Government.

I have been shown pity from every angle over my hope to become a mother - I have been told that it is outrageous in this day and age that we cannot choose to be single and be a mother at the same time. On other hands I have been told I will need to maintain at least a 3 year relationship, as well as living with said partner before I'd be considered. I've got feedback from my local MSP's that for some years now - the Government were issued to re-look at supporting single mothers to conceive but that path has only resulted in discussions about cryo-freezing eggs for single woman - another devastating insult when trying to have a baby, not freeze an egg, and still no further forward. 

I have found out more recently, that if I can gain 10,000 signatures, the Scottish government have to consider this petition of change and reconsider providing Fertility treatment to all. I am hopeful for myself, even though I am severely time limited, and for every person out there who doesn't know they wont end up in these circumstances and those who already have. I did not forsee this life for myself either. I am especially hopeful for the hundreds and thousands of people I meet on our shared on / offline searches for sperm doners who are at risk. Whom countless of,  are being pushed into having sex with strangers after saying they'd prefer artificial insemination, to then on the spot told the doners will only provide by natural / penial insemination and doing so due to their uncontrollable desired to me mothers. Others who are being blackmailed for money even though its illegal to charge for sperm donations in Scotland and threatened with parental rights,  Others who are being let down completely - leaving prospective mothers on their 1 peak day a month chance to conceive and travels and hotel bills paid etc. gone to waste. Or other scenarios like my own - a Lesbian, Christian, Abuse survivor who has paid thousands at a private fertility clinic, to gain and cover trust, protection, legal cover, no sex, no relationships and all moral bases, but which turned out to be a nationwide scam of so many woman, and now we are all in a high-court, court case. The list goes on, to name but a few sad stories but; 

This is direct link and results of neglect and let - down, discrimination and endangerment, a ban against a human rights, forcing woman into situations that are not good or legal, because the Government, who say we live in a time of equality and choice does not believe it is a relevant matter of concern. This is simply not true! Me and thousands of woman only want to grow and love a child for the rest of our days, it being the most natural thing on earth so than mankind could be - and it is denied. And it is shattering. 

I am seeking immediate support to action change on this matter, even if this is not the method that helps me to become a mother - I will be continuing this fight until the change occurs. So please sign and share the petition as far and wide as possible - it is not just a Scottish concern to share out with, and let's stretch the limiting bounds placed on woman in need.
