With almost 450,000 signatures asking for protection of Clashindarroch, lots of press coverage, and lots of asking nicely, logging is back underway and we still have no response from Scottish Government.
Wildcat Haven, who have fully supported this petition and first identified this wildcat population, are now fundraising so that they can take legal action for enforcement of the considerable protections for wildcats and their habitat.
They're also hoping to raise enough to employ a full time ranger in the area who can monitor the wildcats, report on any further commercial exploitation of the forest, and carry out other activities like engaging with the local community and setting up neutering clinics for domestic cats.
There's a huge number of people supporting this campaign, and it seems the only way forward is legal action; it's expensive, but if everyone who signed the petition donated less than £1 we'd sail past the fundraising target.
Please help if you can, there's more details at www.gofundme.com/savethewildcat and in the video interview copied above with Dr Paul O'Donoghue, Wildcat Haven's Chief Scientific Advisor. It's an expensive time of year, but any donation helps, no matter how small.
And if you'd like to donate through Paypal you can send donations directly through www.wildcathaven.com/make-a-donation
Share it around! And thank you so much for the ongoing support, the numbers here for the wildcat are just amazing.
