Petition updateBring Priya and her beautiful family back home to Biloela, QueenslandA fresh chance for our Biloela family
Angela FredericksBILOELA, Australia
Dec 20, 2020

Friends, our beautiful Biloela family are facing their third Christmas in detention.

Please, will you call Australia’s new Immigration Minister Alex Hawke on (02) 6277 7770 to politely encourage him to pick up his pen and bring them home to Biloela for Christmas?

More than 1,000 days after Priya, Nades and their Australian-born girls were taken from their QLD home, Mr Hawke has become the fourth politician to be handed the power to bring them home to Biloela with a stroke of his pen.

Just like QLD-born Kopika and Tharnicaa, Mr Hawke was born in Australia, to a family who came in search of freedom and safety. Last week, after being asked to serve as the new Minister, Mr Hawke wrote:

“Like so many Aussies our family came here seeking the opportunity, freedom & safety our beautiful country affords everyone. On my desk is a special photo, of the Anna Salen, the ship that brought my yia yia, pappou & mum to our shores after fleeing a devastated post-war Europe.”

Please, can you make a respectful call to Mr Hawke’s office on (02) 6277 7770 now?

Here are some points you can make:

  • My name is  _____, I live in {SUBURB/TOWN}, {STATE}
  • I am calling to congratulate Alex Hawke on his appointment as Immigration Minister
  • I am asking Mr Hawke to allow Priya, Nades and their QLD-born girls to come home to Biloela home in time for Christmas
  • Over 350,000 Australians have called for this family to come home to Biloela
  • I cannot vote for a Government that is detaining this family and trying to force them from Australia to danger
  • Mr Hawke must use his Migration Act powers to bring this family home to Biloela immediately

I have seen the difference your respectful phone calls make.

Last year, after you inundated former Minister Coleman’s office with polite calls, he asked his Department to brief him on our family, including the option of exercising his special powers to intervene.

After you called your local MPs, Biloela’s representative Ken O’Dowd said “I think they should stay” and former Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce called on the Minister to bring them home to Biloela.

But since Mr Coleman took extended personal leave, Acting Minister Tudge has sat on his hands. Now, the responsibility has passed to Minister Hawke.

Today, will you please make a polite call to Mr Hawke’s office on (02) 6277 7770?

If the line is busy, please keep trying – today, tomorrow and right up to Christmas Eve.

For everything you are doing to help bring Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharnicaa home to Biloela where they belong – thank you.

With hope,

Angela
