Australian politicians have kept QLD-born Kopika and Tharunicaa in immigration detention 3 times longer than Maddie, the longest-detained child migrant trapped in any of America's three notorious "baby jails".
Americans are rightly outraged by the news that seven-year-old Maddie has now been detained for seven months - “the longest of any child currently held in [US] family immigration detention.” I wonder what they would think of Australia, knowing that Kopika and Tharunicaa have been detained for nearly two years?
Two years of trauma, suffering, and isolation. Two years of tears, malnutrition, and being denied a childhood.
Friends, in less than a month, we are back in the Federal Court fighting to bring these two darling little girls home to Bilo. We need politicians in Canberra to remember their names, to be reminded that hundreds of thousands of Australians are still following this story - and that with a stroke of pen, the acting immigration minister could end this family’s suffering.
Can you send an urgent message to Australian Senators today?
With love and hope,
Angela
