In one week, Tharunicaa turns two. Unless Minister Coleman returns this beautiful, QLD-born bub and her family to the community, it will be her second birthday in detention.

But something incredible is happening. Liberal and LNP members of parliament are beginning to speak up for Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharunicaa. Please - can you contact your MP now?

In Biloela, Tharunicaa was a happy, healthy baby. She thrived on fresh, healthy food. But 16 months in a Melbourne detention centre have left her with vitamin deficiencies, serious dental problems and painful mouth infections that stop her from eating solid food.

In the last few days, I’ve been contacted by supporters telling me that their Liberal MPs have promised to raise this beautiful family’s case with immigration Minister David Coleman.

Under Australia’s immigration laws, Minister Coleman has the power to step in and allow Tharunicaa and her family to live in the community.

I need to give these MPs a chance to work quietly behind the scenes. But I also need you to know that people like you are making this happen.

Please, can you make a polite call to your MP now?

Many thousands of you have e-mailed your MP and that’s a great start. But it is clear that MPs who are receiving dozens of polite phone calls or voicemail messages from constituents are much more likely to act.

There is hope - but we may not have much time. Priya and Nades are terrified for the safety of their girls if forced from Australia. Government lawyers say they don’t remove people from Australia while the need for protection is assessed.

Tharunicaa’s need for protection has never been considered. But changes to Australia’s migration laws mean the Minister needs to give permission for this. Tharunicaa’s future rests entirely in his hands.

This family desperately needs Australia’s elected representatives to speak up. And for our MPs to speak up, they need to hear directly from the people they are employed to represent.

I know I’m asking you to do a little bit more than sign a petition or send an e-mail. But it literally takes seconds to contact your MP from our action page and we have talking points to guide you.

Please - will you click through to our action page and speak up for this family today?

With hope,
