Friends, I’ll keep this brief because we’re running out of time. The fate of Priya, Nades, and their two daughters is now entirely in the hands of the re-elected Immigration Minister, David Coleman. He has the power to intervene, stop them being deported, and allow them to return home to Bilo.
Right now, can you pick up the phone and call Coleman’s Immigration office, and respectfully request he intervene? Here’s the script I would suggest:
Phone number: (02) 6277 7770
- Hello, my name is {YOUR NAME} and I am from {YOUR HOME TOWN, STATE].
- I am calling in support of the Tamil family that was taken from Biloela, Queensland in March 2018.
- The people of Biloela have demonstrated their strong desire for this family to be returned to their town.
- A petition calling for them to be returned has been signed by over 190,000 Australians.
- I believe it is in the public interest for this family to remain permanently in Australia.
- Mr Coleman should use his powers under the Migration Act to allow them to stay.
- Thank you.
The call will only take a few minutes of your time but could change Priya, Nades, and their daughters’ lives forever. If you can’t get through, please keep trying.
We’re pulling out all the stops. Believe me when I say that things have never been this desperate - but people power could still get us over the line. Coleman can still intervene. I won’t stop fighting until he does.
Yours in strength,
Angela
