As I write, that’s how long our politicians have left Priya and Nades and their precious little QLD-born “cockatoos”, Kopika and Tharunicaa, locked away in Melbourne’s harsh detention centre.

When I started this petition, I never imagined that one year on, we would still be fighting to bring this family home to Biloela. And I could never have guessed that my little petition would grow to an incredible 180,000 signatures.

There are only 150 representatives in our lower house of Parliament. If every single one of the wonderful people who have signed this petition contacted their MP, we would average over 1,200 e-mails, letters or phone calls per MP.

We have the numbers. And I truly believe that if there was a way we could all act together, this beautiful family would be free to fly home to Bilo in an instant.
