I just found out that the Federal Court is handing down its decision on Priya's appeal today. Yes, today - Friday 21st December.

Please – I need you to act now to help me save this beautiful family.

I’m hoping and praying for a positive decision. But I know that Australia’s weakened immigration laws offer little safety to people like Priya and Nades.

And I know that in June, Border Force handed Priya and Nades a deportation notice just one day after a court decision.

This time, we can’t afford to wait for a deportation notice. 

I know it’s a busy time. But today, please take a break from your Christmas shopping or end of year celebrations to help me save this beautiful family.

Here’s the plan. As soon as you get this e-mail, I urgently need you to use the few business hours remaining in the year to call the offices of the Minister for Immigration, David Coleman (02 6277 7770) and the Minister for Home Affairs, Peter Dutton (02 6277 7860).

Politely explain to their staff that you would like the Ministers to immediately use their power to intervene and allow this family to remain in Australia. And ask for a guarantee that Border Force will not issue a deportation notice during the holiday period.

Three-year-old Kopika and one-year-old Tharunicaa were born and bred in Biloela. Our “little cockatoos” should be flying home for Christmas. But within days, they could be forced to a war-torn country they have never known.

For ten months now, we’ve been fighting to bring this family home to Biloela. Twice, Border Force have tried to smuggle them from Australia to danger. And twice, we’ve stopped them. 

Let’s show that no matter what time of year it is, we will not rest until this family is brought safely #HometoBilo.
