But he can’t do it without the help of pilots, flight attendants and ground crew. Last week, the world was shocked by the cries of migrant children separated from parents in the name of “borders”. It made me think of how frightened little Kopika and Tharunicaa must have been when Border Force separated them from their loving parents during the long journey from Biloela to Melbourne’s harsh detention centre. President Trump backed down from this barbaric practice after six commercial airlines said they would not let their aircraft and crew be used in this way.
