I'm writing with a quick update to share some exciting progress! I sat down last week with SDOT and a representative from the Pedestrian Advisory Board and Seattle Neighborhood Greenways to discuss our petition to Give Pedestrians the Green. The conversation with SDOT was promising. There are 1000 signals throughout the city including different types of buttons with different capabilities and programmed different ways. We discussed how pedestrians could be prioritized in some of these various scenarios. I also learned that SDOT Director Scott Kubly has heard us and is interested in improvement. SDOT will discuss internally and I'll be meeting with them again in the coming weeks to work toward an outcome that Gives Pedestrians the Green.
