Please consider signing this petition to stop the purchase of the Former GIANT grocery store for use by Schuylkill County Government as a Prison Pre-Release Program. The purchase of this building will hamper the revitalization efforts of downtown Pottsville. This potential purchase of the Former GIANT would impact the pockets of all local and county taxpayers. It would also be counter productive of trying to revitalize the downtown retail area. 

We, as a community, need to lift up our voices to our county officials and sign this petition to deny the purchase of this property for county use. We need to support our local business and welcome potential businesses to our downtown by keeping our focus on growing our city in that direction. Businesses help to grow our tax base, create jobs, attract other retailers, encourage our youth to stay in their hometown, create economic health and strengthen our community identity.

If we don't commit to our business in downtown Pottsville, we will go backwards and not forward. We need to send a strong message of disapproval of this plan to our county officials. Please sign this petition to help Pottsville and make Schuylkill County grow forward!
